What I liked...
Konqueror is a very cool web browser. It's Mozilla based, so that's a plus. And then as I'm typing this, I've notice that it interfaces with KDE's spellcheck: another plus.
The taskbar is great. I shrunk and centered it though, so it more resembles the taskbar from MacOS X than anything else.
JuK seems to be a good mp3 player so far. It's not as full featured as I might like, but for the use it will see on this computer, it'll work out perfectly.
KMail isn't too bad. I don't have much use for it, but I played with it at work by using to connect our Exchange server via IMAP.
The control center is pretty comprehensive. Everything is fairly straightforward.
What I don't like...
The Remote Desktop application seems pretty limited so far. The only app that's really worked for me there so far is rdesktop, but the big reason for that is that it lets me specify to connect to the console, which is very important because I'm running Windows Server 2003 on my desktop at work, which is really the only think I use RDP for from home. Maybe I'll get it figured out. But now that I've actually tried connection, I discovered it wants a newer version of rdesktop to be installed, but it's not available via ports yet. Suck.
Kopote is pretty damn cool for IMs, although it has a couple drawbacks. It handles all my accounts like gAIM or Trillian. But, it has the annoying ICQ ctrl-enter to send text. I hate that, but haven't found out where or if I can change it. I have figured out how to change most of the other annoyances though that are set by default.
Things to still try out...
- The games
- The office applications
- Miscellaneous other toys
